Natural Resources Institute Finland (Luke) appoints Dr. Antti Asikainen as EVP for Research

Natural Resources Institute Finland (Luke) has assigned Antti Asikainen, Research professor and Professor in Forest Technology, to Executive Vice President for Research as of 14 January 2019, reports Luke in its press release.

Mr. Asikainen will develop Luke’s research and customer processes and is responsible for promoting the effectiveness of research. The assignment is for five years.

Professor Asikainen has broad experience in leading international and interdisciplinary research consortiums and programs. Asikainen has previously worked for Finnish Forest Institute, University of Eastern Finland, Technical Research Centre of Finland and Joensuu Science Park. From 2016 Asikainen has worked as Head of Boreal Green Bioeconomy Programme at Luke. He is also a member of The Finnish Climate Change Panel.

 

As Executive Vice President of Research, Asikainen wants to ensure that Luke provides scientifically convincing research for decision making.

As Executive Vice President for Research, Asikainen is in charge of Luke’s research strategic policies and financial goals. In addition, he builds an internationally competitive and ambitious project portfolio.
