Felix Montecuccoli, President of Land & Forst Betriebe Österreich expects a strong dynamic for the roundwood market due to the strongly increasing demand for sawn and wood products and considers a fixed meter price of 150 € for softwood logs as appropriate and realistic. 

The Austrian wood market is still divided into two parts. In 2021 alone, the price index for sawn timber rose by around 30.8 points to 162.58, while the price index for roundwood has so far fought its way up by 13.18 points to 126.80.

The increasing demand from home and abroad as well as the construction industry are bringing the prices for wood back at least approximately to the level of 2013/2014. 

At that time, the price per meter was 101 € or compared to today, adjusted for consumer indexes, at just under 112 €. The current prices are around 100 € / m3 and thus even significantly below the prices of 2013/2014.
