Framing lumber prices posted strong increases in most species for a second consecutive week, as concerns about supplies were unabated. A number of sawmills in the B.C. Interior remained down due to wildfires in the region. On Thursday, Tolko announced the closure of its Quesnel operations, citing log shortages. This brought the number of fire-related closures to eight, which represents approximately 14% of B.C.’s output and about 3% of total North American production.

Random Lengths Panel Market Report
The Random Lengths Structural Panel Composite Price surged $15 to $448 amid a wild week of trading. OSB prices jumped sharply higher in spots, and reported levels were all over the map as few producers were consistently on the market. The trading pace in Southern Pine plywood was uneven at times and less active than last week. Some buyers waited on shipments to arrive or digested recent purchases. The trading pace in western Fir plywood was busy, particularly in Canada as buyers sought CC panels.
