During the first three weeks of January 2008, PNG forest products showed active trading for logs. However, there appeared to be no apparent improvement in PNG log prices. China continued to be the dominant buyer of logs, while Taiwan and Australia imported more processed
timber products.
The summary of forest products exports in January
are as follows:
Logs: 242,866 m3 (includes Dec 2007)
Sawn timber: 2,587 m3
Plywood: 250 m3
Balsawood (sawn): 825 m3
