Homag-World to become bigger
01/02/2008 - 14:00
Homag- and Holzma- exhibitions in Holzbronn and Schopfloch lately showed the full range from the starter model up to the fully integrated production lines. Basic edges from card board make the light weight construction even lighter. Homag Holzma If one looks at the whole range of machinery for the wood processing industry then one can see that the biggest challenges and at the same time the biggest chances are at the very top and at the very bottom end of the scale. This is how the speaker of Homag, Dr. Joachim Brenk, presented the situation at the 15th Homag meeting. What he refers to are on the one side the small starting and standard models from the Practive-series and on the other hand the complex production lines and factory equipment.

Brandt Kantenanleimmaschine NestingThe visitors noticed this focus at the house fairs in Holzbronn and Schopfloch looking at the exhibits. The small compact specialists like the horizontal panel sizing saw HPP 230 from Holzma, the only three and a half metres long edge banding machine Optimat KDN 20 from Brandt or the smaller processing centres out of the Venture- and Vantage –series from Homag and Weeke were in the limelight. Besides this there were also further developments shown to convert console tables for the nesting.

LigmatechThe prices for the ultimate costumer in this area of Homag´s production have fallen by 10 – 20 % within the last year and a half. The amount of space required for the machinery as well is sunk. Ligmatech showed a cheap and compact start into the one-man operation of oneside throughfeed machines with the system Boomerang ZHR02 Bonsai. It takes the work pieces from the basic machine which is for example a edge banding machine and takes them with a conveyor back to the operator.

The theme of the industrial works was demonstrated by a Complete Line which conceals the raw chip boards with endless paper and finishes them of with a post forming edge. The continuous charging takes place through a system from Bargstedt. Afterwards the chipboard is being calibrated by sanding aggregates from Büfering. The edges are being worked on by the double end tenoer FPL 620 from Friz followed by the edge banding machine KAL 620 which makes sure that the edges are covered smoothly. The Homag-Group is planning to draw people´s attention to them as a partner for factory equipment with these lines and also with offers for the whole factory.

The light weight panel was there again at the Homag-meeting of course. It was quiet in the factory floors in Schopfloch compared to the Ligna+ in May where the theme of light weight panels was pushed with demonstrations and shows. The reason is probably that there are many more definite projects and demands from the furniture industry since then, which allow to guess for the potential of this material. A reasonable possible application was delivered by Brunner from Rheingau-Freistett. The producer of furniture is going to bring tables named “Sleight ultralight” on the market which can be put together from one person without a problem. The Panfix-Sastem developed by Homag and their supplier Zimmer is used to adjust the legs.

Further system solutions for the processing of frameless lightweight boards are being developed. In order to make the light construction even lighter and cheaper in future basic edges from card board can get married with a decorating edge and glued together afterwards in the double-edge process. Besides the famous rawlplug producer Fischer has announced a fastening solution for lightweight boards in 2008 which could be interesting for cabinets.
